Abstract

It is not your fault. You can get scurvy or sunburn or scabies if you know how and try hard enough. If you do that on purpose, you have every right to feel guilty while the rest of us point our fingers at you. If you get rabies or syphilis or beriberi or lung cancer, there is a chance you contributed to the disease and could have prevented it. But that is not so with anxiety disease. There are no immunizations, condoms, or special diets to protect you.

Why is this thus? What is the reason for this thusness?

Charles Ferrer Brown, 1834–1867, Moses, the Sassy
