Interaction of π-Mesons with Nucleons

  • Chapter
Lectures on Nuclear Theory

Abstract

The next problem which arises, once the basic properties of π -mesons have been established, is the examination of the laws which govern the interaction of these particles with nucleons. It turns out that the situation here is fundamentally different from that which obtains in electrodynamics. In particular, in contrast with the interaction of an electron with the electromagnetic field, the interaction of mesons with nucleons is “strong” rather than “Weak.”
