Abstract
The central image of the male ego is the hero. Every boy and every man harbors a fantasy of becoming a hero in one way or another. The hero combines knowledge, strength, and courage and has an impact in and on the world; he makes a mark. The roots of the word power suggest the meanings “ability” and “action.” The hero has the capability to do something of significance, and he takes an opportunity to do so, to prove himself.
