Aspects of Local Excitation Vibrational Interaction in Alkali Halide Crystals Activated by O -2 and S -2 Molecules

  • Chapter
Localized Excitations in Solids

Abstract

Crystals activated by simple impurity molecules appear to be suitable objects for investigating some aspects of vibronic and vibrational interactions in the impurity center. The fact is that the important problem for the local dynamics of the crystal — the problem of existence and properties of the local vibration — is solved trivially here: the intramolecular vibration slightly modified by the crystal shows itself to be the local vibration.
