Abstract
It is my very pleasant duty this afternoon to make the presentation of the Fourth Fritz London Award to Dr. David Shoenberg, for outstanding accomplishment in the field of low temperature physics. In doing this I am acting on behalf of the Fourth Fritz London Award Committee. The members of this committee are Dean Henry Boorse of Barnard College, also Professor of Physics, Columbia University; Dr. D. W. Osborne of the Argonne National Laboratory; Dr. Paul Marcus of the International Business Machines Corp.; Dr. James Nicol of Cryonetics Corporation ; with myself as chairman. Furthermore, I am acting on the behalf of this Ninth International Conference on Low Temperature Physics, Batelle Memorial Institute, and the Ohio State University. I am also acting on behalf of the Arthur D. Little Foundation which, through its outstanding generosity and public spirit, has sponsored the three previous awards and is also the sponsor of this Fourth Fritz London Award.
