Abstract

After the discovery of the spin density fluctuations in Fermi liquids by Berk and Schrieffer,1 and Doniach and Engelsberg2 there has been considerable interest in deviations from the Landau theory of He3. Spin fluctuations have two effects: (1) they change the single-particle excitation spectrum2 and (2) act as a collective resonance of the system3, both leading to T 3 ln T/Θ contributions to the specific heat of He3 for example.
