Abstract
When in the summer of 1965 Professor Lamming approached me on the matter of acting as co-ordinator, I accepted, perhaps more from a sense of duty than anticipation of a new and exciting venture. I had been aware only that the Easter School had become a recurrent activity of the Faculty of Agricultural Science. Also, I was assured that the group would consist of friends of long standing, interested in developing more intense interests in the biology of reproduction. Now, in retrospect, I shall always regard this Symposium as a very rewarding personal experience for which I am most grateful to those many who made it possible. To the organizers as well as to the participants we give our sincere thanks.
