Abstract
Physical exercise is as necessary to life as water, food, and sunlight. It is indispensable if we wish to stay healthy, strong, and agile. There is nothing like physical activity or a game of sport to release tension. Physical health improves our resistance to stress and disease. The human body was designed for the active life our ancestors led, running to catch food and fighting off predators. Modern city life makes none of these demands on the body, and it is not surprising that many people become stiff, flabby, and fat.
