Abstract
Certain habits increase susceptibility to stress. They generally include cigarette smoking; eating too much or eating the wrong food; excessive drinking of coffee, tea, or alcohol; and dependence on tranquilizers, sleeping pills, and other medications. Proper nutrition and adopting healthy habits can increase resistance to stress as well as directly reduce the risk of illness.
