Abstract

A number of methods of linearised system dynamic identification, particularly those which do not require knowledge of the internal structure of the system, yield a system description in the form of weighting function (impulse response), or its Fourier transform frequency response. However, for optimal control theory it is usual to assume a set of first order differential equations as system description, and there is very little information concerning the use of external descriptions like weighting functions in forming optimal control.
