Abstract
Many people feel that when other forms of energy are exhausted or become too environmentally costly, solar energy will replace them. But are they being realistic? Very little information is commonly available to support their idea. In fact, the concept of a large role for solar energy is usually stated as an antidote to an all-nuclear future by those who seem allergic to that possibility. As such, being optimistic about solar energy may seem naive or even deceptive. In fact, most energy experts do not expect that solar energy will provide a substantial fraction of our energy in the 21st century. Yet that is the thesis of this book.
