International Consulting

  • Chapter
The Scientist as Consultant

Abstract

Most of the discussion thus far in this book has focused on scientific consulting as it is currently practiced in the United States. There is, of course, a wider faster track, with different rules and other perspectives. This we can call “international consulting” or even “global consulting.” It is characterized by the application of specialized knowledge to problems and needs outside the borders of this country. Consulting in foreign nations is a diverse and too little publicized export product of U.S. technology, and is a logical activity in an era when economic advancement is a key political objective worldwide.
