Abstract

It is an irony of fate that during evolution some of the most profound changes in the characteristics of organisms, especially microorganisms, are brought on by human intervention—intervention in the sexual function of organisms, if you define sex as the transfer of genetic material from one organism to another in a way that makes the progeny genetically different.
