Abstract
About a century ago, people began to think that symptoms of old age in men could be accounted for by a decline in the function of their testicles. A prominent French physician, Brown-Séquard, at the age of 72 thought wistfully of his vanished youth and pondered what might happen if he could rejuvenate his flagging virility. And who would make a better subject for rejuvenation experiments than a 72-year-old man with a basic knowledge of physiology and long experience in observing the effects of medical treatment? Mais naturellement, le docteur himself. He determined to do something about it.
