Abstract

Richard, my former fiancé, was kind, generous, loving, responsible, and emotionally stable. I was young and naive. When Richard invited me to meet his family, I was excited and a bit afraid. I was sure he had a wonderful family who loved and adored him. I believed they would be kind, generous, responsible, and stable — just like Richard. I had no expectations that they could be anything but the warm and loving family I had envisioned who supported and treated one another with dignity and respect.
