Abstract
Only part of a beam of light striking a glass wall will pass through it ; some of the light is reflected at the front surface. The remainder of the light passes into the glass where part of it is absorbed and part reflected at the second surface. The percentage transmittance of light through a glass wall depends on the optical properties of the glass and on the wavelength of the incident light.
