Abstract
The principles of E.S.R. belong to fundamental physics. An electron travels in an orbit around a nucleus, and consequently has orbital angular momentum. Within this orbit, it also spins about its own axis, and has spin momentum. This spinning charge can give rise to a rotating magnetic dipole which acts as a very small magnet.
