Abstract

The International Committee on AMDP has long had an intention to put “Das AMDP-System” to worldwide usage as an instrument for assessment and documentation of psychopathology. On committee members’ recommendation I have made efforts to complete the Japanese adaptation of this system. In the late 1970’s we finished a translation into Japanese of the first edition of “Das AMDP-System, Manual zur Dokumentation.” In 1978, when we were just about to publish the Japanese version, the third edition of the book was published.1 Finding this edition considerable different in contents from the first one, we started translating the manual third edition into Japanese once again.
