Abstract
The first edition of the French AMDP Manual1 was released in 1978. This edition included only the psychopathological and somatic scales and was intended primarily at elucidating difficulties encountered by French-speaking2 clinicians in applying German concepts. The second edition2, which is fully compatible with the latest German revision3 was published in 1981. It includes all 5 parts that are integrated in the current system: part 1 (Demographic data), part 2 (Life events), part 3 (Psychiatric history), part 4 (Psychopathology) and part 5 (Somatic signs).
