Abstract

In the work considered so far in this book we have encountered models based on simple distributions such as the binomial or the Poisson. In this chapter we shall present ways of relaxing the basic assumptions which result in these simple models. The main emphasis will be placed on extensions of the binomial distribution, and so the work will be particularly relevant to experiments in which it is litters, rather than individual animals, which are to be regarded as the experimental units.
