Abstract
Many people feel the self-help aspect of complementary medicine to be a positive advantage: to take an active part in the healing process is seen by many to be an empowering and liberating experience. Many professionals believe that treatment starts to become most effective when clients shrug off the passive role as a ‘recipient of therapy’ and become actively engaged in their own healthcare.
