Abstract
Setting up a group demands planning, organization, judgement, problem-solving and a willingness to look for creative solutions. This chapter first explains the sequence of setting up a group and emphasizes the importance of giving time to preparation and planning. Subsequent sections consider the decisions that need to be made about membership and time factors of the group and discuss the processes of gaining referrals and preparing members.
