Abstract

This chapter investigates various aspects of training and education in medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, dietetics, and social work. Features common to the professions and those which set them apart are discussed. After this, there are suggestions about how training could be modified to encourage greater teamwork. This includes both student training and in-service training on the job. Further discussion of running workshops in a hospital highlight features based on clinical experience. Following this there is an outline of certain nursing procedures which are important for any therapist working with the adult with acquired neurological brain damage. Legal and financial implications are discussed.
