Abstract
There are no fixed upper limits to the demographic size of neighbourhoods. Although some neighbourhoods contain several thousand people, others contain only several hundred (Barefoot, 1990). Beyond 10 000 people, however, it has been more difficult to identify the ‘neighbourhood’ as a meaningful cohesive single unit with boundaries (Ahlbrandt, 1984).
