Abstract
This chapter examines the issues that need to be addressed during the first three months of therapy. One has already been covered in some detail in Chapter 3: obtaining a clear description of the problem from the client. Another was alluded to in Chapter 2: that clients frequently enter therapy regarding the formation of their problems within a linear or ‘blaming’ context. It is necessary to explore the blaming context at this point, because the therapist must know how to counter this quite painful and limiting world view.
