Abstract

Indigence, illness, ignorance, dirtiness and unemployment are the five giants hindering reconstruction, states Sir William Beveridge when asserting the second directive principle, precedent to the recommendations of his famous report about Social Insurance and connected service.1 In this dissertation we are going to describe the systems established in the Central American Isthmus countries to fight against one of those giants: illness, giving a brief outline of the insurance against this social risk.
