Abstract

Interviews were held with 85 people involved in service planning and delivery for people with senile dementia. These included 56 people with jobs of managerial responsibilities and front-line workers such as CPNs, in the health service: 15 managers and practitioners in the two social service departments; and 14 others with a local or national interest and expertise in dementia services. 21 were doctors, 29 nurses, 17 social workers and 18 from other professional backgrounds. Only one person refused to be interviewed.
