Abstract
The publication in 1991 of Come in Cinderella, an Australian commonwealth government report on adult and community education (ACE) in Australia (Aulich et al. 1991), was something of a landmark. Reports on ACE had been written prior to this time, but the difference was that this report of the Australian Senate, the upper house of the Australian Parliament, was the first such commonwealth government report on adult education in the modern era. It signified a new recognition of adult education and reflected a changing attitude of the community and government to this particular educational sector.
