Abstract

This chapter deals with three different genuses of parasite, two protozoal and one nematode, that can cause pulmonary disease in patients with HIV infection and AIDS. These organisms are Toxoplasma gondii, Cryptosporidium sp. and Strongyloides stercoralis. Lung disease due to these organisms is usually only found in immunosuppressed individuals, for example, those with advanced HIV disease or AIDS.
