Abstract

Assessment of a disabled person’s ability to carry out leisure activities can be overlooked by the occupational therapist when trying to assist people to cope with vital daily living skills such as toiletting, bathing and eating. However, the occupational therapist is often the best person to initiate or guide people towards appropriate leisure or social outlets. These activities have an important place in every one’s life and perhaps more so nowadays when so many people, disabled and non disabled, have difficulty in finding gainful employment.
