Abstract
What is communication? We hear the word bandied around so much these days. This is the age of the satellite, of electronic telecommunication which can transmit messages across continents and the universe. We are able to say a few sentences to an anonymous ear and know that it will be received in writing by someone sitting in an office on the other side of the world. We are able to programme computers to give us the results of complicated equations and questions. All these important functions have one thing in common — they begin with a human being.
