Abstract

Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) may be defined as a backward passage of urine from the bladder into the ureter and possibly the kidney. It is a non-physiological event, which may have pathological consequences for both renal parenchymal function and ureteric motility. The methods of evaluation, and treatment, of VUR are extremely variable due to a generally poor understanding of this condition [1], despite its potentially devastating effects on long-term health.
