Abstract
Few other aspects of the management of the diabetic patient are so amenable to careful prevention and treatment than foot problems, and yet few aspects of diabetic management are so frequently ignored, often with disastrous consequences for the patient. Major foot lesions, sometimes requiring surgical intervention and even amputation, can arise from trivial initial damage which is left untreated or is managed inappropriately.
