Abstract
It is indisputable that the ability to measure accurately the concentrations of cardiac drugs in biological fluids has greatly improved their use in clinical practice. The need for drug level measurements in research is obvious. Measurement of drug bioavailability, drug pharmacokinetics, effects of disease, patient age, drug interactions etc. have to be investigated to define dosage regimes of new drugs. However it does not follow that the measurement of cardiac drug levels in individuals will enhance patient treatment.
