Abstract
Trauma is a health problem and A and E nurses need to be prepared to deal with the many aspects of trauma competently and confidently. The introduction of a number of trauma care initiatives has raised awareness of the role of the A and E nurse in the resuscitation room. In particular the role of the nurse as coordinator of care is now being addressed. Such a role requires examination of confidence: confidence to communicate with as well as the ability to contribute to the multidisciplinary team within the resuscitation room.
