Abstract

The major part of this book is concerned with details covering the various therapeutic approaches currently available to treat rheumatic disorders. Thus, there are individual chapters on drugs, local injection therapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and rehabilitation. However, to provide a perspective idea of how these are interrelated in the process of overall management it is necessary to discuss certain general aspects. This chapter has been written with this intention, and it is hoped that the following sections will enable a rational approach to emerge from the wealth of detail which it has been necessary to document under specific therapies.
