Abstract

Many gastrointestinal disorders are congenital malformations and some of these can be identified antenatally by ultrasound scan. In these cases, parents can prepare for the events that will occur immediately after delivery. For others, the defect is not suspected until after the birth and comes as a major shock. Table 6.1 gives the major conditions which can occur.
