How social policy influences health

  • Chapter
Nursing in General Practice

Abstract

Everyone in Britain today expects to be healthy. If by some unfortunate chance they become ill or have a disability they expect to have access to free health care. If they find themselves without financial support, perhaps due to unemployment, illness or old age, they expect to get a state pension if they have paid their ‘stamp’ or social security benefit if they have not.
