Abstract
Hallucinations, delusions and persecutory phenomena often go hand-in-hand. When we consider the human need to explain and make sense of a situation, this is perhaps not surprising. Someone who has an inexplicable sensory experience may well find an explanation in a persecutory delusion. Despite the frequent interaction of hallucinations, delusions and persecutory states, they are not always related. For clarity, we will therefore first deal with hallucinations and then consider separately delusions and persecutory phenomena.
