Abstract

The themes of this chapter are seeing, understanding and acting in the world. Some of the earliest research and theorizing in psychology was concerned with our experiences of sensation and perception. These phenomena still interest us today and the knowledge which we have obtained about them from psychological investigations has been applied in a range of settings.
