Abstract
The assessment of sexual problems is a complex process which reflects the multiplicity of variables involved in the human sexual response. Given the wide range of psychosocial and physical factors which may lead to sexual difficulties, the assessment process must be wide ranging and integrate the findings of the physical and psychosocial investigations. Ultimately, the assessment process must provide an indication of those aetiological factors which are operating for a given individual or couple. This information provides the basis for designing an individually tailored intervention programme.
