Abstract
The following chapter — written by a President of the Institute of Health Service Management and a former Chief Executive of a West Midlands Health Authority and now Chief Executive of a large Health Authority in Wales — clearly recognizes that managing change is not easy. It acknowledges that the pace of change has increased dramatically over the past 10 years and that change cannot occur without health service staff being party to, accepting and leading that change.
