Evaluating the teaching of transcultural care

Abstract

Evaluation is a crucial issue in any course if the teacher is to maintain standards and meet the needs of the students. It is of even greater importance when introducing new subject areas into the curriculum. The teacher will need to establish the success or otherwise of the course content; and there may also be a need to justify it to colleagues who are sceptical. Evaluation is also useful in developing a resource-base for colleagues, thus ensuring that transcultural care does not become a ‘speciality’ taught only by ‘experts’.
