Abstract
The responsibilities of the professional nurse are many and onerous. Nurses are legally accountable for their responsibilities, which are specified in their job description and which are underlined and amplified in the Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors (UKCC, 1984, 1992).
