Abstract
The term dermatomyositis describes the association between a characteristic eruption and myositis. It is rarer than lupus erythematosus (LE) and systemic sclerosis and the female predominance is less marked. It can occur at any age, predominantly from the fifth decade, but distinct forms occur in children.
