Part of the book series: Therapy in Practice ((TPS))

Abstract

The importance of identifying and working with language impaired children from bilingual communities has long been recognized by those involved with this work. However, work with the bilingually language impaired is often regarded as a marginal aspect to the more general work with language disability. This is ironic since, on the theoretical side, bilingualism and second language acquisition (SLA) study has a respectable tradition in linguistic research.
