Abstract
Polymers may occur naturally as biopolymers or may be produced synthetically. The main biopolymer classes are polyprenes, nucleic acids, proteins, polysaccharides, and lignins. Biopolymers are skeletal or support materials, messengers, transport media, and storage reserve materials, or are just simply products of metabolism.
