When Evil Appears in Imagery

Abstract

In the clinical practice of imagery, frightening, powerful, spontaneous images occur which hold a foreboding quality. They send chills down the therapist’s back. They engender a cold sweat, hyper-alertness, a kind of fear response. We are not tempted to help our client lovingly embrace these images. As therapists, we may want to flee from them as rapidly as possible. Great therapeutic potential can be lost when we succomb to that fear.

Lange Nas’ und spitzes Kinn, Da sitzt der Satan leibhaft drin.
