Abstract
The case-control method of epidemiologic investigation has proven to be of great use in studies of adverse drug reactions and may even have a small role in the assessment of drug benefit as well. The drug history of persons with a condition suspected of being related to drug exposure is compared to the drug history of a suitable comparison group, called a “control group,” and the differences in the proportion exposed are measured.
