Abstract

Bimetallic clusters, as the name implies, are entities composed of atoms of two different metallic elements. They are useful in catalytic materials and were envisioned originally for this kind of application (16). Research in this area was initiated by the author in the early 1960s. Thus, the time frame of interest for this review is similar to that considered in the first session of this symposium, which was concerned with developments in the area of metal clusters during the twenty-five year period beginning with the discovery (7) of the quadruple metal-metal bond.
